I recently saw this watercolor painting, done many years ago by me, hanging in the bedroom of Jacob and Shawna. I thought to myself that it was a pretty good painting and further thought that I might explore that composition in the media that I use now. So, for the Beaches JazzFest Show at Liz’s Studio 888 this year, called to celebrate 150 years of Canada, I set out to re-examine the “Canadian Shield”!

The original painting is about 9 x 14 inches, plus mat and frame. These exploratory paintings are all in acrylic on 24″ x 24″ canvasses. Some pieces have notable lines in Liquitex Paint Markers. The paintings are all numbered in order of execution. The more I painted, the more free the expressions!
The opening reception of the 2017 JazzFest Group Show, with 14 artists, will happen Thursday, July 13 from 6 until 8:30 pm. (Only my Numbers 1 and 2 will be on show.)
