The Square Foot Show opened to the public on Saturday night, the 6th of August in Toronto!

As I suggested in my previous post, the predicted crowds did live up to their own reputation, testified in these great pictures taken by the wonderful and prolific East End Artist, Allan O’Marra. There were 500 artists participating in this non-juried show.

I’m posting these pictures of opening night so you will have some sense of the high density of the paintings and the buzz of the crowds attending this event. This show is a great opportunity for emerging artists to have some exposure for their work and gain some feel for the gallery experience.

Allan, who is showing 3 oil paintings himself, took these photos of the paintings and the crowds. On his Facebook he identified paintings of his friends and some which had just caught his eye. …. I was pleased to see my own “Laura’s Barn #7” there on Facebook!! … Allan didn’t know the painting was mine, furthermore he barely knows who I am. (Even though I am a proud owner of one of his oil paintings.)

The Square Foot Show is on until the 12th of August at Twist, 1100 Queen Street West. The hours are Wed – Sat 12 -7 pm, and Sunday 12 – 5. All paintings are priced at $225.00, with 1/2 going to the artist and 1/2 to the gallery.
